After having provided legal services in Ingersoll for 44 years, I have decided to retire from the practice of law.

Ian R. Blain Law Professional Corporation will continue to be operated from its current location, 36 King Street E. in Ingersoll under the business name “IRB LAW” by my fellow lawyers and colleagues, Craig Potter and Amanda Howlett. Craig has been with the firm since 2011. Amanda has been with the firm since 2021, but practiced law for five years before then with firms in Toronto and Woodstock.

There has been a law firm at 36 King Street E. since 1962 when the firm of Start & Marshall, which had been established in the early 1940s, moved to the current location from the old Royal Bank building. Over the years the name of the firm has changed as new lawyers came into the practice and others left or retired. I joined the firm in June of 1979. In January 2021, I incorporated the law practice as a professional corporation under the corporate name, Ian R. Blain Law Professional Corporation.

Since its inception, the firm has strived to provide high quality legal services to the residents of Ingersoll and surrounding communities. I have complete confidence that Craig and Amanda will provide excellent legal services and they will ensure that our firm remains a part of the community for years to come.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my career as a lawyer as well as participating in community organizations and activities. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my clients from Ingersoll and surrounding communities for the privilege of providing legal services for them over the years.

I am looking forward to my retirement, particularly being able to spend more time with my family, travelling, improving my golf game and participating in community activities.
